V70 BiFuelLPG not working
Hi wonder if you can help me out. I live in France and have a 2002 V70 BiFuel/RHD which I brought with me when I moved to France. I had some problems with it switching over to gas for a short while but then eventually it would not run on gas at all. Took the car to Volvo main dealer in Limoges who told me they were not able to work on LPG system as not authorised. Sent me to an LPG specialist who has had the car now for a few weeks. Originally thought system just needed cleaning but then fond that the membranes in the distributor were perished. Did the necessary repairs but still would not run on gas. Thought it might be the stepper motor but tested this and found to be ok. He has done some work on the electrical side (not sure what as my French is not too good and he does not speak any English) and has got the car to run OK on both petrol and gas. Problem now is that it will not switch over automatically from petrol to gas. He is trying to contact a gas specialist at Volvo France for help but no luck as yet. He is again thinking that the problem might lie with the stepper motor which here in France is only available from Volvo at a cost of 900 euros and is not returnable once taken out of the packet. Can you help with any ideas what the problem might be that I can pass on to him but more to the point do you know if needs be where I source a stepper motor in the UK that can be sent to me in France at a lot less price that 900 euros. Hope you can help

Have you had Volvo read the fault codes? A faulty stepper motor will show up (at least it did on my S60 bi-fuel), it's about the only thing on the LPG system that does flag a fault code.

A standard OBd2 Reader won't see a thing and on earleir V70 models even VIDA DICE etc won't show Necam codes. Later versions do but I'm not sure when thsi became so. I think 2003 on but don't quote me. Some S60 use the GM version of Necam and I understand that does work with VIDA DICE etc. Only you don't ahve that with a 2002 V70.
