Worth noting though that if you have a sunroof too pulling fuse 38 will also kill the sunroof.......

Anyone have alarm siren board?
Hi,
New member, hopefully will find lots of help on here. Just bought a volvo V70 2002 a few weeks ago and have been sorting it until i'm happy it's 100% right. I also have this problem. Took the siren out and checked the board and it is fried / badly burnt, smells off a fire, surprised it hasn't actually went up. Obviously the previous owner has avoided the warning message for a long time. Does anyone have a spare circuit board or old unit? Don't fancy paying £155 for a new one as already spent more than the purchase price sorting out all the faults with this car. Did spend some time hacksawing through it neatly so i could tape it up once i had replaced the battery which looks like wasted time with a chargrilled board |

Looks just like mine did. Unfortunately I bought a new battery to fit before I saw the state of the PCB, Doh!
I'm also clocking up the bill working through inherent problems with the car. Just found out someone had fitted the smaller size brake discs on the front.

The battery was only £11.69 so i'm not too bothered and was just being ambitiously optimistic as looking online now i haven't seen anyone who has cut it open and found the PCB in good condition.
Ano, if only people would look after their cars properly. This is gonna be my daily work car so want it sorted but it is turning into a project instead of a daily car at the moment. That's not good, when i bought mine the front callipers were seizing on and produced some heat after the drive home. The joys. Last edited by barnes89; Nov 29th, 2015 at 17:47. |

It's all about getting in there as soon as the alarm service warning appears.

Oh i did, 30 mins after buying the car ( had it just over 2 weeks ) the alarm service required came on when i stopped at a petrol station and the hazards kept flashing to my delight.
The previous owner i'm guessing never bothered about for a long time i presume. I was considering buying a used one from a scrappy but with the age of the cars now the chances of a battery not having leaked everywhere ( 10 years + ) must be about 5% or less.

I ended up buying 3 secondhand units until I found one that wasn't knackered, and then replaced the battery. Car got written off so I whipped the repaired one off which I'll keep in case the one in the current car packs up.

I've asked a local volvo scrappy to hopefully keep a few for me. Hope i'm lucky, and don't have to hacksaw more than 3 open.
If i find a decent one i'm definitely wiring up the battery to an external housing like volvo should have done in the first place. Anyone got a board to sell in good condition?
