Default Xenon headlight leveling motor

Hello,

I own a volvo XC70 with active xenon headlights.

The motor that moves the headlights up/down left/right when the car starts and cornering is broke in one of the sides and doesn't move.

This is causing a warning light.

I have been trying to source a replacement but can't find one. The only fix i can seem to find is replacing the whole xenon light cluster with a new one.

any tips? any where i can source a motor?

Have you read the codes in VIDA? The headlamp control system will log any faults that cause the lamp to come on. It is a different motor for up/down to left/right. The fault might be a suspension sensor or similar.

If you have access to VIDA you can exercise the headlamp motors individually.

I dread to think of the cost of a new ABL headlamp.... I would scour e-bay for a replacement - even if it is broken it may yield a replacement motor - if that's what you need.

Default Possible solution ??

I don't know if this would work, but I had a similar issue on my 2004 V70 with Xeon's. I took the motor off of the light unit, and took it apart. It was quite straight forward. Inside the actual motor was small, and the issue was that it has seized - hence the non operation. I used a 9v radio battery to run the motor forward and backward for about 5 minutes, lubricated the various gear wheels, reassembled and several years later it's still working.
The P3 motor unit may well be totally different from the P2, but if it can be separated and opened up it might be a cheap repair.

Cheers
Bob

I will take your advise onboard and see if i can grease the motor and try it again.

So far i have found some yards selling used (1 year warranty) for around £300. I can't seem to actually source the motor anywhere or even get a part number

Found This USA web site but does show part numbers.

Had to best guess your car as only USA types.

https://parts.volvocarsofmarietta.co...GR-378685.html

Part is item 7 : part number 30763985 - looks nothing like my P2 motor.

Good luck

Cheers
Bob.

Fingers crossed, spoke to the guy the run's that shop in Poland and he was happy to ship it for £12.

So total cost was like £39 after the £1 transferwise fee (using Monzo to pay via INBC)

Will update you guys when the part gets here!
