Default Volvo 240s near Gatwick Airport

Recently I came across a farm entrance area in Horley (north of Gatwick) with several cars stored, obviously for banger-racing.
Apart from a couple of Jaguars and a Chevrolet saloon (all about 1980s) there were at least half a dozen 240s. I had seen the estates before (all pre-alterations for the track) but plonked on top of one was what I thought was a 144. Engineless but otherwise complete although I couldn't get up enough to see inside, the only clue to its true identity was the tyres being 14" rather than the 140-series 15". Very complete, and an early car too, so if you fancy trying to locate the owner (I couldn't but it was on weekday visits) I can advise location.
Needless to say, no helping yourself - these guys are usually keen on making beer-money for bits they don't need.

I think the chap is on the facebook group, there's certainly a banger racer in Horley on there - he was trying to sell an early 244 in gold a while back, could that be the car in question?

I revisited the other day and re-examined the older saloon sitting on top of a Jag: totally lacking in everything except the axles, it turns out to be an early Volvo 264. Clues - nylon trim-fixing clips along the side, stainless trims around the wheel arches, boxy old-style rear lights and housings for those large energy-absorbing bumpers of about 1978. Therefore rare nowadays.
Not gold, Tony - red but just a rusty hulk. However, if you need an axle or suspension this could be your lucky day!
