Default Volvo 940 wiper linkage cable

Does anyone know if these are available? If so what is the part number and where can I find one? If not, would it be possible to bodge up a solution - perhaps using a brake cable off my pushbike?

Secondhand one there on fleabay - new ones also on fleabya for about £60 but only the link rods. No cables, your pushbike is safe!

Thanks for the reply Laird Scooby but perhaps my post wasn't completely clear. The part I am after is the cable itself. There is nothing wrong with any part of my wiper mechanism so I'm loathe to spend 40 odd quid replacing perfectly functional parts. The short length of cable is surely only worth a fiver or so. It's just a case of where can I get one. Or if they are unavailable how could I bodge one together. It just a short length of cable with a stop at one end, a nut at the other and a bump in the middle that fixes into a gap in the cam wheel.

Is this it?

If so, Volvo dealer,

Part Number: 687784

Genuine Classic Part

Probably take a couple of weeks to get, Classic Parts usually do, It's $22 in the USA, no idea on price here as it doesn't always follow a straight exchange rate due to market fluctuations, so i'm led to believe.

Get them to check the part number when you order, i've had a few "anomolies" with the site i got the information from!

Brilliant work Scooby! That's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks very much for the info. I just hope I can get one by the 19th before my MOT retest period expires!

It's the 10th today and usually takes 2 weeks to get from SWeden - add xmas into the mix you're probably looking at the new year!

Have a look at this thread, don't think the wiper linkage is sold yet, probably just as easy to buy the complete secondhand linkage and fit it - one out, one in!

I notice you're a new member, if you can't send PMs yet, post on here and i'll send you a PM with my email then act as go-between until such times as i can pass you the sellers email - after i ask his permission of course!

Thanks for the kind offer Scooby but I'm glad to say I've just managed to locate the part I need. CP Motors in Polesworth suggested I try Brookhouse Volvo Parts in Ipswich and they came up trumps. They had a brand new part sitting on the shelf for 20 quid and are popping it in the post to me today. Result!! Thanks again for your offer of help though - much appreciated.
