Default Rear Shock absorber support plate

Evening,

Was on my commute tonight and started to hear clunking noises from the back of the car. Stopped right away and saw that on the near side the support plate has failed. Will order the parts tomorrow and replace next week

Just wanted to ask if anyone has had this before and what would the reason be, apart from normal wear; I am aware the part has almost 10 years now, and the car's been driven 122k miles, but just want to make sure there are no underlying issues that might cause this to fail?

Thank you

My Driver's side went just over a year ago and my passenger side went last week, on my 2011 V60, with 85,000 miles.

So my first one went at only 8 years old, and this one 9.
From our admittedly very small sample, this seems to be about the lifespan of these, which does seem short to me for this sort of component.

Thanks,

it does seem that about 8-10 years is the lifespan of these....When I get the time to replace I will check for any other signs that might point otherwise
