The renewal on my old clunker Mark II Golf is £10 less than Mouthy (explain that one!) so I may well try them for her.

1996 Volvo 850 T5 RICA chip reading
Hello fellow Volvo owners.
I have an 850 T5. It has an 18T turbo, White injectors and a Tony Banks Cat back exhaust. The boost is far too aggressive. With 1/3 throttle movement, the boost gauge will fly straight off the white scale by at leat 4mm !!! It has been rumoured by a previous owner that it has a RICA Chip, but, having lifted lid of ECU Box, there is no identifying info to suggest this. I am based far down the UK in Cornwall, near Bude on the north coast. Can anyone point me in direction of anyone down this part of the world that has an Eeprom Reader please? Considering the over aggressive boost and acceleration, I need to get this remapped to be more kind to the engine and at same time, return better fuel economy around town which currently is only 15mpg. On motorway distance of 350 miles, it returned nearly 33mpg. The car is running rediculously rich (9.18 CO. and 0.776 Lambda) Never going to pass MOT Test at this rate. I am going to do PCV Service as there is a pipe from left end of Inlet Manifold that has come away from the PCV system (have been told just a warming pipe for PCV when cold) Can anyone give me some points re richness once I have pcv serviced please? Thanking you all in anticipation. |
