Default Hard Pipe or Silicone Hose

Hi where can I get a specific s60 t5 2001 hose kit from?

The do88 one is good but is not a full kit despite the £305 price tag. (no air intake hose) and the silicone air intake hose is £161

anyone know where to get a good kit?

I don't really care about the top hose only the intercooler hard pipe and the air intake / maf hard pipe being replaced as this are hard to get on and off

I'd be worried that if you ever got in a shunt and had a loss-adjuster sniffing around your car, you'd be flagging-up, nay using a foghorn to illustrate other possible issues. so unless you're able to explain under scutiny the cool logic of why you'd want to fit said £300+ of hoses, to a road car, or even a semi-race toy, I'd keep to stock. Else you might find yourself on the wrong end of the insurance game. Not nice.

Or you could just tell your insurers, carry on with upgrading your car and generally enjoying life!

Take a look on T5D5 forum - more likely to get a performance Volvo orientated response there.

I had to wrap electrical tape around the flange to hold it together!

I sacked off standard pressure hoses for silicone & Norma clip fittings due to original hose failing to remain seated . Simply swapping to silicone is no problem , even used silicone water hoses due to greater working pressure & heat resistance . Upgrading to higher spec hose materials should have no bearing for insurance company , UNLESS you have mapped the ECu , fitted larger turbo Etc.

I'd always advise declaring all modifications with your insurance company, just in case.

Where does a replacement part become a mod? if you have your exhaust replaced at quickfit is that then classed as a mod as it isn't a oem Volvo part. what about older models where there are no longer oem parts available and you have to fit pattern parts, is that then classed as a mod? I've been pondering this question for a couple of years now.

It's a good question, and a potential can of worms!

I'd suggest insurers would take the view that it is anything changed to specifically alter the look or performance of the car from standard, including such things as minor as chrome valve covers. I'd love to see you try and summarise the mods on that 850 beast to some insurance call centre in India 'you have an engine in the boot sir?'. It would be like that time on Topgear when Clarkson tried to insure the Bugatti Veyron.
