Looking at your "signature" you have a 2004 V70 D5 SE does that engine have a DPF?? If not yes I would agree it will run better and quieter but if you do have a DPF, as has been said before, you may be adding additional soot to the exhaust - unless of course you do an "Italian tune up" on a regular basis.

No DPF for me they where introduced in 2005 and it gets the Italian tune up , not saying it does it's magic but for the price and the quieter engine now and again
Thanks
Mike

Asda's own 2 stroke added this morning so I'll report back with my findings.

I would STRONGLY recommend synthetic two stroke oils, the older mineral oils produce a great deal of smoke and sticky soots.
I`ve seen plenty of blocked two stroke power valves and exhaust systems in my time!

I'm quite curious about trying this, but I've read precisely the opposite regarding synthetics (when adding to diesel) - many threads seem to suggest that the higher quality 2t is not required for this application.

I know the benefit of a good 2t oil too, my old NS400R was a different machine on Silkolene Pro

Unfortunately not

I had an HRC coloured one back in the late 80's when they were current, and I bought a Rothmans liveried one a few years back as a trip down memory lane.

It was great fun (again), but the parts availability (or lack thereof) was truly frightening - e.g. no pistons available worldwide. I decided to cut my losses and sell it before I blew it up or it suffered some other expensive problem.

If I was a bit more flush I'd have another, and if I was really flush I'd splash out on an RG500

Apologies for the OT trip down memory lane...

Apologise not, a little off topic banter is healthy. You still got any two wheeled toys?
