Default C70 Wheels

I am considering a set of winter wheels for my ‘10 C70. I am not up to speed with all the different style names available etc and it looks like the C70 wheels are specific and not interchangeable with other models of a similar year???

Can anyone throw some light on the different rim sizes and styles and if C70 wheels are specific or will another model fit or C30 etc

Thanks in advance😉

C70 rims have a different offset to C30/S40/V50 rims, 45 instead of 52.5 so no, they are not directly interchangeable (but 52.5 rims might work with spacers?). Facelift and pre-facelift C70 styles are completely interchangeable though.

AFAIK this is the list of standard styles supplied new and what models they went with. Again AFAIK, the 17" were all no-cost-option alternatives to each other and to the 18" Mirzam, but not the 18" Morpheus.

16" style (7.5J, 215/55 tyres):
Castula - pre-facelift S / facelift ES

17" styles (7.5J, 235/45 tyres):
Sadira - 14-spoke, pre-facelift SE
Syrma - 7-spoke, pre-facelift SE
Serapis C - 5-spoke, pre-facelift Sport / facelift SE Lux
Sirona - 10-spoke, MY09 pre-facelift and facelift SE

18" styles (8J, 235/40 tyres):
Mirzam - 14-spoke, pre-facelift SE Lux
Midir C - 5-spoke, MY09 pre-facelift and facelift option only.
Morpheus - 14-spoke, facelift Solstice only.

Castulas would technically be the best rims for winter tyres due to narrower tyre width and higher sidewalls on the 16" rims. But IMHO they don't look very good and those in the know will recognise that only lowest trim level had them as standard.

For my previous pre-facelift C70 I got hold of a fairly battered set of Sadiras (17") cheaply and put winter tyres on them. I bought a 215/50 size, which is a very close alternative to standard, less than 0.5% difference in rolling radius from 235/45. Sironas (17") would be in keeping with your model year and hopefully less susceptible to pothole damage with having a more even spoke pattern than the Serapis. From new they had diamond-cut faces which corroded very quickly, but a refurbished set in all-over grey powdercoat could be a good bet.

(After a couple of winters' use, my Sadiras went with the old car when I traded it in. Here in deepest Home Counties I never felt much benefit from the winter tyres, I don't remember them even seeing any snow! I still have its original Syrmas with summer tyres on though, I'm thinking to use these in the winter to save the 18" Morpheus on the new car from the potholes, which unlike the snow are in no short supply!)

Cheers for that Proghound, that’s exactly the info I needed.

My suspicions were correct about interchangeability of wheels. Now to find what wheels I like😉

I have a set of Michelin Alpin winters on Volvo OE alloys for sale which we used on both our C70 and current C30

As we have moved to sunnier climes we didn't need to use last year and unlikely to use again... which is nice

The alloys are Volvo Borbet stamped 7Jx16x43. I assume 43 is the offset

The tyres are Michelin Alpin (M & S) 205x55R16 91H

Tyres are in good condition Approx 5-6mm tread as are the alloys

Let me know if of any interest?

Can you post a pic off them? Google brings up a few different styles.

Cheers

If they are of any interest I have a set of 4 x 18" Mizram (SE Lux standard fit) wheels to get shot of. They have bald Nexen tyres on them and they all have some kerb rash but would be fine for winter tyres!

Not sure shipping them is a practical proposition though, they are *heavy*. I've been meaning to clean them, photograph them, and list them for sale for ages.

Afraid not, they were sold 12 months ago.
