XC90: Anyone purchased extended warranty from Volvo?
Anyone purchased extended warranty for the SPA XC90? What options are available in terms of years/mileage? And what's the cost involved?
I'd asked a sales guy at my dealership, but he suggested that I speak to Volvo UK. Emailed Volvo UK and they asked me to speak to the dealer!!

No but definitely will when the day comes. This thing is too unreliable not to have a warranty.

I couldn't get a straight answer to the question. I'm not sure that options/prices have been fixed yet for an official Volvo extended warranty.
It's another year or so until the first of the new XC90s come out of their 3-year warranty. Perhaps they're still assessing future repair costs based upon warranty claims so far. Whatever the outcome, I reckon it'll be a very expensive option.

Looking at Swedespeed, it seems like they have some packages available in the States. Its not clear what's available here. Waiting to hear from dealer. Will update this thread when I have some news.

Volvo can offer the option to extend the period and mileage limit of the standard 3 year/60,000 mile warranty. This enables customers, who intend keeping their Volvo beyond the manufacturer warranty period, to enjoy a similar level of protection for an extended period. Main Features and Benefits Cover option 1 - Extends your current 3 year/60,000 mile manufacturer warranty to 4 year/60,000 miles, whichever comes sooner. Cover option 2 - Extends your current 3 year/60,000 mile manufacturer warranty to 4 year/80,000 miles, whichever comes sooner. All cover options include the following features: All major mechanical and electrical parts cover – we list parts that are not covered, you are covered for everything else. Full parts and labour cover – we pay the full costs of genuine Volvo parts and labour time required to fit them. The link talks about extending the warranty from 3 years, to 4 years. No mention of 5 years. But the image that you'd attached talks about extending the warranty from 3 years, to 5 years. I hope the 5 year plan actually exists? Please clarify.

The information on the image came from Car Care Plan who underwrite the warranty, that one is correct to the best of my knowledge.

...and if the info on 5 year plan is accurate, then the cost is not too bad, considering the cost of the car and cost of potential repairs.
