The Spotify experience on my new V90 CC is terrible! Even with a full 4GEE singal the system is woefully slow and difficult to navigate. In fact I’d say it is down right dangerous to use. In my opinion Volvo have take a massive leak back the way on safety with the tech in this car! Lane keeping aids? Intellisafe? Maybe we wouldn’t need these things if the car was simpler and safer to operate!

I tend to agree. It looks very nice, but, not wishing to harp on about it too much, the voice control is poor. I find it unintuitive and most requests other than "call ........" seem to result in the car telling me it's "searching for POI".

In most applications, voice recognition is a convenience or 'nice to have' feature, but when driving a car, given the complexity these days, surely its becoming essential.

There's a lot of safety focus on mobile phone use while driving but not much on the use of in-car apps.

The days of a tune-in radio with 6 preselect buttons are a distant memory! Literally.

I do not understand why car manufacturers have to reinvent everything. Why do they want to recreate an iOS or Android? They do not have the brain power.. In my XC90, I have a magnet to hold the phone. I used Spotify on the phone and connect via audio. Simple and works great.

I guess it's horses for courses, but I don't see that as a solution for me - it would just be an even smaller screen to interact with on the go.

As it happens Volvo is partnering with Google to use their Android system in a couple of years time - I see this as a better solution if Google assistant could be baked into the system.

My point is that if there is any activity where proper voice interaction would be beneficial - surely driving a vehicle is a top one.

Are you talking about the inbuilt volvo app or the CarPlay one?
