Default XC90 T6 2003 Shut down . ECM? HELP

I have a XC90 T6 2003 and recently on long journeys it has switched itself off and back on again in a split second, whilst driving at high or low speeds. Mainly happens after about a hour of motorway driving.
But yesterday while on the M25 for 2 hours it decided to do the same but this time more regular and then shut it self off. This time it didnt come back on.
now all i get is the engine management light on and the parking lights, thats it.
The car is dead apart from that. no interior lights, no power to windows, central locking or dash.
I read a few links on the ECM and REM prior to this happening.
Does anyone out there know where i should start.
spoke to my local independant the 1st time it happend and they dont have a clue what it is and said just keep an eye on it. well i did that and know look.
They could'nt find any error codes relating to anything specific.
Just before it shut down the ABS service light came on, the Parking sensor service light has been on for 2 weeks and then a red break failiure light flashed on seconds before it switched off.
Right know i have a big chunk of metal and leather sat on my drive.
HELP!!!

Did you check the passenger side footwell for water? Could be that the CEM has had water ingress

Was CEM or ECM off of network when readings have been taken???
Looks like CEM/ECM internal error. Can be also crank position sensor.
BTW CEM is located above driver's pedals.
ECM under bonnet.

I thought it may of been the Crank position sensor aswell, but why would it not have power to the car.
I had a Crank position sensor problem in a mercedes CLK last year and it wouldn't start.
But there was power.
on the Volvo i get nothing but engine management light. no noise of pumps or motors turning.

it was a vida i think. i recognised the tool online
i dont have the codes. the volvo dealer said there was a lot of codes but they may not be related to the problem.
So he wanted me to go back after a few weeks and read them again, to see what codes where showing.
