Question Does this S40 have Xenon headlights?

Hi,

I'm picking up my S40 at the weekend. My question is.. when I went to the dealer last weekend they told me it had bi-xenon headlights the same was stated on their website and autotrader.

But as I've been reading throughout the week and reading through the Volvo S40 manual online I'm starting to doubt whether it has bi-xenon headlights and instead just has halogen projector headlights. Because I noticed when in the car that the it had a headlight level adjustment wheel when apparently this isn't in cars with xenon headlights (according to the manual).

I've attached the only picture of the car I've got below (it's not a closeup of the headlights unfortunately).

I want them to be xenon headlights but if not then at least I can use it when I go to pay on Sunday as a bargaining chip to get a bit more off the price of the car.

If anyone can shine some light on this (see what I did there?) I'd appreciate it.

No they are not Xenon headlights, there not white enough, and if you have a levelling wheel in the car to adjust the headlight then again no, this is removed for the Xenon as they self level, easy check, park up against something or put something in front of it, the turn the lights on and of, and put the highs on and off, when you turn them off if there Bi-Xenon headlamps they should move up and down a few times each time to calibrate.

Also if you give me the VIN I can run it though my VIDA and see what it says it came with from the factory.

Hi,

Have you got an email I could send you the VIN to? I'd rather not publicly post it.

They're standard lights with the winter pack option (washers). The plastic circle round the projector is clear, with xenons it's a blue colour aswell.

Hi,

Here's some closeups of the lights the dealership sent me, I think they still think they're xenons.

Any further comments? :P

Update: I finally got the dealership to concede it doesn't have xenon headlights so they've offered me £100 off the price which I'm happy with.

Definitely normal halogen bulbs.

On the left is Halogen, On the right is same car with Xenon.

Cheers

Regardless it looks like my S40's projector halogen lights are going to be much better than my old Fiesta's halogen reflective lights.

I wouldn't bet on it. These headlights are rubbish. They are set too low so you should adjust them up. There are how to's around here somewhere. It's easy, just pull the big pin out of the back and pull the light unit out. You'll see a white adjuster with I think a 6mm Allen key head. Wind them up a few turns to get a better throw of light. If that doesn't do it, try Osram Nightbreaker+ or similar 'premium' bulbs to improve the lights. Pre facelift cars like mine are particularly poor.

Nice car too btw, any other details about it?
