Question S80 MKII V8 2006 - Blower and rear parking sensor issue

Good afternoon All,

It is my first message here but not my first Volvo lol.

I have a S80 V8 AWD 2006 MKII model and I experience two issue :

The rear parking sensor stopping to work properly. In fact, I can hear a quiet beep beep sound through the rear speaker but not far to be impossible to hear. The front sensor beep beep sound is good. I am wondering if it is not the amplifier the problem ? The sound in the car is not really good for a premium dolby digital. Any idea of where the problem can come from ? I had something similar on my C30 before and it was the amplifier and it cost a fortune... In adition if it is the amplifier I read somewhere you can't change it by yourself because the ICM read is serial number and will not communicat if it is not the right one.

My second problem is a blower fan noise. I looked on internet and people said that can be the fan motor itself. The motor was changed by the previous owner and I don't think this is the problem. When the engine is stop, I can't hear any noise in any fan speeds. However when the engine is running the blower start to make noise following the engine revs. It looks like a current return from somewhere. Do you have any idea ? The alternator was also changed by the previous owner recently. The battery is not the right size (too small). Can it be the battery ?

Thanks for your help guys

Does the fan noise stop if you switch off the aircon?

Yes I know your problem, firstly get an air con regass and see if noise goes, low gas can cause the noise.

Mine did not so replaced the valve in the bulkhead. It's located under the scuttle panel where the wipers are fitted. I forget the actual name. Changed mine and cured the noise that changed when the aircon was on and accelerated.

Edit, it a called expansion valve. Give it a Google, whine from aircon Volvo.

I looked this afternoon and I have 25 psi on the low pressure site. So not far to be low level. Do you think I need to go up to 40 psi ?

No idea, best to have it on a proper machine that will fill to correct level.

The replacement valve i got from Volvo was a little different so may have been modded.

Changed myself but you will need a garge to remove the gas.

Price was around £90 with seals etc.
