The blue estate with the ridiculous wheels and low profile tyres sold for £1.140 - so pretty well what we thought. I think that is a fair price for a 30 year old car with 200,000 miles.

I’m sure that car was on eBay until a few days ago. I think the classified ad ran out, but maybe it has sold?

... found it (I know, I should get out more) amongst the completed listings:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/volvo-240...p2047675.l2557

I doubt that it made £6,000, I think the seller was just chancing his arm there, maybe nearer £3,000 (we'll never know).

I'll have an egg cup full of whatever this seller has been drinking:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1987-E-VOLVO-240-GLT-2-3-ESTATE-MANUAL/124676331980?hash=item1d0749d9cc:go0AAOSwdAJdNxj O

... it must be strong stuff - £11,500 for a 33 year old 240!

I believe on or after the day of the auction, the listing can be viewed to find out the final hammer price Alan. Might be worth having a look closer to the auction time?

That looks very familiar! I think that's been on ebay recently too!

... I think what has happened Dave, is that it has been sold on Car and Classic (guide price £3,000-£5,000) so the seller has marked the simultaneous eBay ad (at £6,000) as 'no longer available).

My guess is it was nearer £3,000 than £6,000 :-)

Starting In
5 days
Starting April 20th, 05:00pm

Copied ^^^^^ from the car and classic listing Alan. Just to the right of the first photo.

I suspect they have a non-compete rule in as much as once entered, it can't be for sale anywhere else. Hence cancelling the ebay listing.

Only 5 days to go so we'll know soon enough!

Ah! Cunning, I didn't know that. So, the eBay ad at £6k was a non starter so the chap/lady is trying C&C at £3,000-£5,000. It still looks like a £2,500 car to me :-)

Indeed - it amused me reading some of the auction house blurb on why the current owner is selling. Apparently the ULEZ limits will price the Volvo out of London so he's selling but has replaced it with a Reliant Scimitar GTC. Hmmmm, last i knew the emissions on a Volvo were as good if not better than a Scimitar!

I smell cowshed confetti!

... I had noticed that one as well Dave, selling a 240 because of the ULEZ but replacing it with a Scimitar - bunkum!
