Not sure to be honest, i'd have a look in the relevant Green Book to see what that says about brake bleeding or consult a Volvo dealer/specialist. They're a bit too new for me to know much on them i'm afraid.

Maybe someone else will be along soon with the exact knowledge, if i was doing it i'd try normal bleeding first as that is usually fairly safe but better to find out for sure.

Bit of research seems to suggest..
Engine on is not required.
Ign. On not necessary but does spin the ABS pump and so aids bleeding if a straightforward bleed proves problematic. ( I guess this depends on how far back the system has been dismantled/drained)
The ABS pump can be cycled when using VIDA.
To use a low pressure bleeder and work from shortest to longest run.

So, to the OP...
1. Check the module connectors for fit , corrosion , bent pins etc and also the ABS relay.
2. Check the sensors , reluctor rings.
3. Replace the brake fluid.
