My daily driver prior to getting the S70 was an S40 D5 - but I disliked it so much that I drove my standby car as often as I could - its a Japanese import (so totally mint and rust free) Discovery 4.0 V8, and just last week passed 50k miles

I've had this for about three years now and have replaced the head gaskets and the entire cooling system - these are known for running very hot causing dropped cylinder liners etc. I've fitted a lower temperature thermostat which has helped to drop the running temps to more acceptable levels. Its been totally reliable since - thirsty (!) - but reliable!

Interesting that a W126 was mentioned earlier - that is also on my bucklist - and also a 500/560 SEL. I remember being hassled by one way back in the early/mid '90s - it was one of the then popular heavily modified ones. I was in my brand new 940 2.0 Turbo and I got left for dead - the W126 was faster than anything I'd seen and handled very very well. I'm sure the tables would have been reversed if it had a std engine and suspension

Most of my bucket list cars are '80s or '90s - I'd love another 850R or 850 T5-R, a SAAB 900 Turbo, a Ranger Rover Classic LSE, the W126 560, W123 280TE, early Porsche 911 or 928... etc etc. I have almost zero interest in modern cars, I'd even choose an 850R over a Bugatti Veyron or Tesla. Seriously, I would

Discovery looks very clean

The 560SEL has 0-60 of 6.9s - more than 2.5s faster than the 2.0 940 turbo, in standard trim at least... they're no slouches when required to move - but it does feel a bit like forcing your grandad to sprint up a flight of stairs

I can't say I've ever felt the need to hustle the 500SEL though - it's just not that sort of car

Fools and money.
In the scrap yard waiting to be crushed. Monty decided to save it for 200 fenland shekels.

Was on the vw scene a few years ago with full roof rack and light bar etc I'm informed.
Was delivered to me the day before Halloween, little miss Monty had a ball decorating it and sitting in it with a white sheet scaring folks as they went past.

Truth is I haven't got a clue what to do with it.
Its a very clean rust free car, drives perfectly.

I remember the 4 wheel steer Honda Prelude in the late 80's.

Is the car in your signature an MG Magnette?
Both of our Preludes are 4WS, but they're the 5th Gen from the late 90s.

Drat! I was going to change the thumbnail.
Yes, the car is a Magnette ZA. 1489cc and about 60bhp to start with. A bit of judicious machining and improving the breathing made it nearer to the sports saloon that it was intended to be.

I only ever drove one Prelude 4ws. I remember it felt as if it was on rails....but would still take the Magnette instead.
