Air Mass Meters
Coming from a SAAB Turbo background not had too many dealings with Air Mass Meters so im no expert in that field.
However, I know what is and I know what its suposed to do and as Bosch have already flagged mine up as being potentially faulty its time to do some looking around. The one fitted to my car has Bosch Part Number 0280217511 but im getting conflicting reports on what engine this is suitable for. Parts For Volvo suggest its for the 960 MkII 3.0 but other websites say this item is for the 2.5 engine only? I have been quoted 900TL (£420ish) for a replacement but I can see new-old ones on ebay for as little as £40. Obviously I dont want to 'buy cheap, pay twice' so who would be the best supplier to go with bearing in mind it has to find its way to Turkey? If anybody has a known working and relaible one handy that would also be considered... |

I am already arranging a collection of parts within the UK so thats not such a bad idea.
The car dealer is taking the car in on Monday so they can repair the MAF apparently. Not sure how succesful that will be though. Ebay have got the right bit on sale at £40 which im happy enough to pay if it comes to it. |

Well, the AMM appears to have been repaired somehow. The garage pulled the dash apart this morning and the chap simply took the CEL bulb out. At that point I told him the problem wasnt the lamp but with the engine itself so he got on his scooter with the AMM and an hour later it came back. The CEL now goes out after about 5 seconds (as I imagine it should do) and the enigne starts much quicker and settles to its natural idle better too.
Now its just the gearbox to sort! |
