That's what I feared. Though the fob still locks & unlocks the car and, of course, the blade fits. It's just that all-important (immobiliser?) chip...

I glued the new fobs back together again with superglue the new top piece did not quite line up with the Bottom half of the fob but although it bothered me at first i don't notice it now. Take it slow and cafeful and you will be fine
Remember thats Slow and CAREFUL!
Just replaced key fob with e bay kit. followed guide on U tube video the transponder inside the casing is GLASS so being careful is the word. size of same slightly smaller than half a matchstick, but worked Ok for me.

I’ve rebuilt my fob, looks lovely & I managed to get the glass transponder out in one piece, but it still doesn’t work!

Do I need a pcb or does it need re coding with Vida?

It has a brand new battery btw!

Thanks.

The battery powers the lock/unlock funtion using the buttons

The small glass transponder is the piece that communicates with the ring around the ignition to mobilise the vehicle

If the lock/unlock function is not working, then re-pairing the keyfob to the car is required. Easy.

If the transponder is not working and the key cannot start the car when inserted into the lock and turned, then the key may need to be re-paired with the immobiliser system, which is a Volvo-dealer job due to the security aspects.
