Central Locking
Hi all. My first post so it has probably been on before. Just purchased 2002 V40 1.8i Has no key fob but that not a problem. The problem is the drivers door will not lock just replaced motor & all linkage but still the same. It locks sometimes if i pull the button up with pliers. Is there adjustment on rods needs doing or could it be the door lock itself or even the key. All other door lock fine with key.

Just to add a bit more I think it's only the unlocking that stops it locking because the button inside doesn't come fully up.

I had a similar problem with my S40 when I first got it (now sold) & the problem was that the button that sticks up on the door had possibly been pulled-up by hand and wasn't 'in sequence' with the central locking.
I 'cured it' by pulling it up with a pair of pliers and then firing the c/l foff & on a few times with the fob (if you've no fob then the door switch would do the same thing). It sounds like you've tried something similar, but to no effect, so possibly the mechanism's jammed & that's stopping it going up & down. A thought: I know it's hard to tell, but does that button seem to move up & down as freely as those on the other 3 doors? If not it might "simply" be it's jammed or a bit twisted?
