I thought it might work on my 2002 V40, but no luck. Anyone any thing that works on a budget?

Consequences of allowing key fob battery to discharge.
My spare key fob for pre 2004 S40 remained unused for several years until I tried to use it. It did not function as the fob battery had discharged.
A new battery was inserted but the remote still did not recover. It would appear that in order to maintain key fobs in an active state, a working battery is essential. I am now searching for ways to re-activate the fob other than going down the route of the main dealer. Advice would be most welcome. |

Well I have just tried reprogramming my keyfob 4 times and it doesn't work.
After 2 goes I put a new battery in and tried 2 more times and NOTHING. Looks like I will have to go to a specialist |

I have a 2009 S40 in Canada and I'd be interested in trying the Programming..
I too have 1 FOB with None of the Buttons Working- and I'm a Bit Pessimistic about Replacing the Battery.. though it is on my -TO DO LIST FIRST. However; I just got the car yesterday, and I don't know enough. Will the Key still Work in the Ignition -REGARLESS of PROGRAMMING? Hello Everyone, We're NEW to the Volvo Family; and Quite Excited! Never thought I would be the Proud Parent of a 2009 Volvo; which I Brought Home, Yesterday. - Signing Adoption Papers, Still has to be Finalized. Name:YV1MS382692459404 Age: 2009 - 245,000 km Sex: S40 It was Quite a Long Delivery (Over 400km), and I'm Still Quite Tired - from Yesterday's Experience! 2009 Volvo S-40.png He's a Picure of Baby's Bum After 1st Spanking (By Me) And Like Bowie's "Rebel Rebel" - I'm Not Sure, if it's a Boy or a Girl! I Know it will be Very Important and NECESSARY, to Find Out MORE, Like: *Turbo or Naturally Asperated *Engine Size CC/ 2L ??? etc. What Generation it is - so I'll be able to find the Door to Parenting 101; Stores to Shop- and What to Buy? What are their Favorite Drinks? There was only a Drop in the Bottom of the Bottle. I gave it about 1l of 10w30 Synthetic. - What does one Recommend? etc.. I was Awake ALL Night - Trying to Diagnose My Baby's 1st Night's Symptoms. All of the Power Windows and Locks are Having TROUBLE - with Various Results; Including: Both Front Widows: Clearly, a Show of Stubbornness. LR: Seems to Work Consistently, RR: Not At All Power Locks- I only got to Work for a Brief, 20 Seconds- though Hours of FUSSIN. I seen a couple of YouTube Videos about Removing and Cleaning the CEM Module __ The Dash has 3 Warnings: UPDATED: -SRS Airbag Urgent is Now Not On- Maintenance Overdue Bulb Out ___ The Engine Light gives a P0131 Code: P0131 is telling us there is a fault in the oxygen sensor, located in the bank 1 sensor 1 location of the vehicle. This is also called air/fuel sensor, or heated O2 sensor. This means that the ECU has detected either improper voltage from the oxygen sensor or improper air-fuel ratio. ___ Furthermore, it seems the Baby's Diaper is Stuck... and I can't find the Trunk Release Button / Lever- but was told it does not open and it's "Probably a Cable" (Enlightened by another YouTube Video, I now see, there's a Release Button, which is Not Working and Appears to have a Lot of Yellow/Green Diode Grease on and Probably In, the Plug?). The ONE AND ONLY (5 Button) Key/FOB; which seems like it's Plastic, only Takes Partial Responsibility - and Wakes the Baby Up and Puts Her to Sleep! Does Not Open the Doors by Remote - and I don't know what Opens the Door if it's Locked, if Not the "PVC/Plastic Key" which does not fit in the hole. Is there an Alarm? UPDATE: Seems the Door Locks Now Work Great, with the Dawn of the New Day...And I Figured Out the Hidden Key, in the FOB (Buttons Not still Not Working / I'll try a Battery Replacement). The Baby's RF Eye, will Not Open in the Day time - but is Wide Open at Night. So I need to replace that Bulb- Nor does the Lower FOG Light on the R.F. Pads are Needed/Routers not out of the Question - along with some New Rubber and Removing the Skins. There was a CV Joint which the Pervious Owner said they bought and replaced but that was Not the Problem.. and there's a bit of a Flutter and Shutter in the Acceleration and Braking. Pick Up seems good. Fairly Quiet. She can Run without Problem. The Foster Parents were Quite Illusive and Quiet - but I Decided I would "Accept the Terms with a "Handshake and Some Paperwork" (Excluding the Owners Manual Not be Found)- to Seal the Deal; and Take Care of this Gem in the Rough- (Or At Least Give it a Foster Home)! Bill of Health is Up then End of the Month (3 Days). I've Set Up a Doctor's Appointment for Next Week; but I would Like to see some of this Clear Up if I can. Well, You can NOW See the Types of Problems I am having, Trying to Bestow, Upon this Group. I'm just a Bit Worried, and Will Probably Stop WHINNING - If I Don't get Banned! Thanking Everyone in Advance, A Responsible, Loving, Parent. P.S. I enjoy Camping, Fishing, Gardening, Construction, Computer Repair, and Internet Exploration... Let's Not get too Personal but feel free to reply~ Last edited by DMacKay; Sep 28th, 2023 at 19:13. |

Welcome to the forum but you have posted in the wrong forum - this deals with the classic S/V40 upto 2004. You need the S40/V50/C30/C70 forum.
