Default TMAP sensor question

Hi, had the engine managment light come on and car go into a restricted power mode. Took it to my local indie and said it was the TMAP intake manifold temp sensor?
£150 fitted. Now this is probably the going rate but seems expensive to me for a sensor that I can probably fit myself no bother. (Please excuse me but money is tight st the moment and saving £100 on labour for a couple of hours work would be greatly appreciated.

Thing is can’t find anything regarding a TMAP sensor, only a MAP sensor. Are these two things actually the same item?
Also would be handy to actually know the prescice location of part so I can check part number before ordering

Really appreciate any feedback. Thanks everyone

It's a combined air pressure and temperature sensor.
Assuming that this is definitely your problem, this one on eBay is of high quality and reasonably priced.

It's on the intercooler out pipe so look down right of centre at the front of the engine bay.

One more question

When I have changed the sensor will the Check engine light go out automatically or will I have to get it cleared? And is this possible without an OBD TOOL?

Thank you 🙏🏻

Some faults will self clear immediately or within xx miles and some need a tool and there's no definitive list so it will be whatever it will be.

Thank you for all the info, I’ve got one on order. Had a quick jolly under the bonnet and whizzed it off to have a look, it’s a bit of a bugger to get to but pretty straightforward. Saved myself £120 anyway so I’m happy

Hi,

I changed mine on a c70 d5 earlier this year. On mine it's a front bumper off job to access it but easy to do and eml light went off on its own, got any stored codes cleared later when serviced.
