Default XC60 bonnet struts

On opening the bonnet on my 2018 XC60 I have to physically lift the bonnet despite the hydraulic struts installed.
Didn’t have to do this on my old (2014) XC60, just released the catch, and start it off and the struts did the rest.
Is this the same on all “new style” XC60’s or does mine need to go back to the dealers ??

On my XC90 I have to give it a bit of a push to get it to the widest opening.

On the XC60 MY19, I just gently raise it about 12 inches with minimal force when the struts then take over and raise it to the upper position.

The struts on mine take over as soon as the bonnet is lifted off the catch and lifted a few inches as other members have said.

I did check with the Master Tech whether the bonnet should go right up on the struts, almost 90 degrees to front wings, such that I can't reach the bonnet when standing in front of the car to let me lower the bonnet.

He said that the bonnet struts were designed to do this to enable them to work on the engine without catching the bonnet.

Sounds like your parents did not give you enough Weatbix for breakfast as a child....

Thanks to everyone who has responded.
Sounds like I may need to get them to check that mine are working as designed.
