Exclamation Start Prevented, try again! After installing new battery

I need your help.

My volvo is now refusing to start and after searching everywhere for a solution ive got nowehere.

So as the cold weather is now affecting us in the UK i thought I;d change the battery as in the cold weather the radio swicthes off after a few seconds.

So on the weekend i changed the battery over, and now it says start prevented. it was literally disconnected for a few minutes. Tried the old battery same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Means the immobilizer cannot read the key.

Give the battery a full charge and let the car go to sleep and then wake up again (close and lock car, wait 30 minutes, unlock car again)

If it still refuses to recognise the key, try the 2nd key.

If both refuse to be recognised, time to connect VIDA and read and clear all fault codes

If that brings nothing, then you have to trailer the car to a dealer to get the keys relearned.

Have you given the battery a full charge as suggested or checked the voltage as have seen some posts where a low charge can cause this. If not, then possible the antenna ring on the steering column - some have reported this as intermittent so you could just keep trying? If no joy from these then could be a trip to the dealer.
What were the codes - they may provide some clues?

CEM-6C48 Transponder type Faulty signal

Possible source

-The ignition key has a damaged transponder
-The ignition key is of the wrong type. It has no transponder
-The ignition key has previously belonged to the vehicle but has been erased from the memory for the central electronic module (CEM)
-The ignition key is a new key and has not yet been programmed into the memory for the central electronic module (CEM)
-Several keys are too close to each other during the read off
-An electronic door key was too close to the antenna unit during the read off
-An automatic road toll transponder is installed too close to the antenna unit
-EMC interference (strong electrical field) during the communication phase (when starting the engine)
-The ignition key is a Volvo key but for a different model
-The ignition key belongs to another Volvo of the same type, i.e. it has a different transponder code
-The ignition key is for another make of car and therefore does not have the same type of transponder.

Fault symptom[s]
-The starter motor does not turn.

I have highlighted the items I consider to be most relevant
I read this as:
The CEM has no keys stored (number of Keys=0) and the current key code does not match any stored key code (as there are 0 stored)

Next steps:
Check if CEM can be reprogrammed with your key's)
You need to have all keys physically present during the reprogramming
Reprogramming must be done by a dealer

If CEM doesn't accept reprogramming, it may be faulty, and you may need a replacement CEM.

One of memory areas went damaged. Either new cem or repairing your existing one plus software reload will sort your problem.
