240 Auto Shifter Bulb
Hi,
I've just picked up first Volvo 240 estate and working through a few little jobs. Does the 1992 model have an illuminated auto shifter? It's not easy seeing in the dark and I want everything working if possible. If so, how easy is it to change the bulb? Thanks! |

It should have: there's probably either one or two screws/Torx bolts attaching the shifter casing to the transmission tunnel. If you undo them and lift up the casing you should see a bulb-holder on the same side as the gear-position tell-tale that moves with the shifter's shaft. Certainly the BW35 in the older auto-boxes was so configured and I can't see Volvo or Borg-Warner changing the set-up.
The casing might be secured with a lug at the opposite end to the screw(s) in which case it needs to be pushed back/forwards as appropriate.
