Airbag Light & Seat Belt Warning Light Alarm Issues
Hello All,
I was after some help/advice. I have a S40 on a 53 plate and have issues with the airbag light. It comes on when the ignition is turned on, flashes off, then turns on again and remains on. If I then plug my seat belt in after about 4-5 seconds the light turns off. I understand that even before I plug my seat belt in the light should turn off shortly after turning the ignition on if all is well (I have found out as this has caused an MOT failure). In addition the seat belt warning light and associated clicking noise no longer works. I should mention that I have had it plugged in to a diagnosis reader and it said there was an issue with the drivers buckle receiver. I have had this looked at and I was told there is no issue with the buckle receiver. I think the two issues are interlinked. Can anyone offer an opinion as to how to resolve these issues? Is there a relay for the clicking/seat belt warning light etc. that should be replaced, which is causing a secondary failure? Thanks in advance for your responses. |

The drivers buckle receiver is the ONLY part of the SRS system that can be unplugged and plugged back on without a permanent SRS light staying on.
My guess would be that your flasher relay is not working, since the clicking noise does not work. However, I am not 100% sure if a faulty flasher unit alone would trigger the SRS light. So I would not rule out the drivers buckle receive. If you want, I can send you both the flasher relay and drivers buckle receiver so you can troubleshoot the problem See here for flasher relay
