Default Default V70 - too cheap?

Seen this advertised as I'm looking for just such a car but am wondering why this well below the recommended valuations. Owner also obviously doesn't understand the new road tax system!

Too good to be true?

Advert gone which suggests it was a fake one lure you in and be scammed.

Seen a few on there in the past. I recall finding a V50 on eBay that was being genuinely sold by a guy round the corner from my inlaws.
A few months later a similar car appeared on Autotrader with identical pictures, a private seller in another part of the country, a mobile number and a suspiciously low price.

Always remember the motto "Caveat Emptor" and do all the requisite checks before you even arrange to go see a car.

Its still there, think the link expired:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...ge/4?logcode=p

Ran a check on it and all appears clean with exception that the road tax expired 5th March.

Tempted to at least go and have a look.

Can anyone advise on anything particular I should look for? Never bought a V70 before...

Aaah, see what you mean about understanding the Road Tax Rules.
Suggests the car is SORN making a test drive on the road tricky...

Seems a good price for the age & mileage. Don't believe the spiel about it being a cam chain engine. It isn't and will need to be changed at 108,000/10 years.
A 2008 car is still relatively early in this model's history so there may be odd niggles that may (or not) been sorted. I'm sure other owners out there can pinpoint any specifics.
Obviously do the normal checks such as HPI and when inspecting the car physically. If in unsure, get it inspected.
You can confirm the Volvo Service History with Volvo UK and the servicing dealer may be able to provide you with more details.
Good luck!
