I don't have an answer but I won't let my car being serviced by a garage that does an engine flush when changine the oil. This alone tells me it's a so-so mechanic. He did touch to the fuel system so I would start looking at that

Maybe they've used a heavier grade of oil such as a 10W- instead of a 0W- something.

go thru your fuel recipts to eliminate any "It was definaltely better than that"

see if your spending the same on fuel per unit time

then the view loses weight

You can only really get accurate MPG by doing the maths, not relying on an on board computer.

Thumbs up

Both my previous S60 D5 and my V70 D5 used to use more fuel after a service but would settle back down to their normal 55ish mpg after a couple of weeks.
I agree with clan, run it a few weeks until the oil has broken in a bit and your filters have had use and see if your fuel gauge reads different then.

Ps Check the right oil went in .... Is 0w30 fully synthetic, castrol volvo recommended best and edge a close second.
Dont forget your engine is aluminium its important to have the right oil.

It might be that you've just unfortunately hit a dpf regen straight after the service, have you done a long enough journey at the correct revs to rule it out?

Default Faulty reading on the instant fuel consumption display

Hi Flyfischer1 and more ..

I just made a big service (20k + 40k service) on my 2014 XC90 D5 (D5244T18) and did a fuel filter change, engine/filter change, engine air filter change and gearbox flush. I then had the turbo blowing off the Turbo Outlet Noise filter just a few days after with both rubber gaskits blown in half
(At the service the lower gasket looked fine .. the top is nearly impossible to get a good look at .. tried as good as possible with a flashlight and a mirror and twisting like to "the book of records)
ending up limping home from town. I got new rubber rings and got it all cleaned up and mounted .. got the fault code reading reset
(the o2 sensor had a reading outside it's parameter settings because of lost turbo preasure and showed up twice on DTC, once for faulty power once for faulty mass connection)

BUT
my instant fuel comsumptiom display also went haywire .. but only at redusing speed and starting from 0 ... it can go from 43 all up to 99,9 L/100 KM and stay there at slow and crawling speed, but slowly coming down on the normal 5,5 - 6 L/100 KM by crusing speed of about 95 km/h.
I have never seen that before in line of work and found only 1 entry on the US counterpart of this forum.
It seems to be speed related .. either wheel rotation or air speed in the MAF or fuel flow ...
The system is build like if the DIM can't get the real-time info, it is making the calculations on an estimated set of values which can be very far off from real if having big differential values.
