Hello. First time on this so hopefully I'm on the right page. In the past when it's been very hot and whilst driving, all my speedo and electrics have turned off, the car still driving. Yesterday, I had driven 40 minutes, the car had been sitting in the sun all morning and early afternoon, I then parked the car and 5 minutes later, I turn the key, fuel guage etc turn on for a split second, then all switch off and the car doesn't even attempt to turn over. Windscreen wipers work. When it happened before, I stopped the car, a few hours later all worked fine again. Does anyone know what this maybe please?

I had to look up your public profile to see you have a 2004.
Please include year, engine specifics, trim level (sometimes) and other pertinent info. It helps.

You're '04 is in the era of the weak DIM (Drivers' Information Module).
In all likelihood the "big momma" processor on your instrument cluster (aka DIM) has a few cracked / failing solder joints.
Hot weather is linked to the symptom.

There are shops you send your DIM to (easy to remove) for reflowing of said joints.
Several have said that these 'cold joints' are doable at home. I looked at mine and ran away like a scalded dog. I wasn't going to practice on the one and only cluster I had.
Do what you like. The UK guy who repairs them is regarded highly on this board.

Someone will be along with the fellow's contact info.

You want Lukas at VolvoDiagnostics, he is based in Tilbury, you will find him with a Google search.

Hi, I've been having intermittent dash failure and warning messages which don't mean anything as the car still drives ok. These problems only happend when the car had been traveling for a while, and everything started to warm up, especially on a hot day in traffic!
Turned out to be the CEM , which Volvo diagnostic repaired , and the car is back to normal!!
Hope this helps you.
