My Brembo fronts + pads were just under 200 (Inc a bottle of brake fluid)

Pagid are alright though I think, used them before on a number of cars

Am I right in thinking ATE are the oem?

I wouldn't skimp on brakes though , if you do drive carefully like you say they'll last pretty much forever anyway
No, Volvo make them in Sweden ....

ATE were stamped on my Calipers, and I would suggest ATE are decent quality.

Much Volvo charge and underestimate how good the quality is. I ordered new Volvo wiper blades and fitted in 2018. I have just ordered a new set 4 years and 60,000 miles later, but the originals work fine.

I have previously bought ‘OEM’ Bosch from Halfords and they last 12 months.

OEM manufactures can be acceptable but are generally no where near as good as Volvo.

Just my opinion.

That's exactly what I have experienced with volvo over the last 40+ years ..

The manufactures generally make their goods in a few different qualities , Bosch , SKF, etc to suit different buyers requirements . Volvo always demanded the top quality + their own higher ones . Have you ever seen a Bosch distributor cap lacquered inside on anything other than a Volvo application ? Bosch I buy in Halfords barely make one season whether they are used much or not. volvo wiper blades last 3 or 4 seasons even if sometimes made by DELCO .
Volvo brake calipers who ever make them and there are 3 or makers ,rarely ever give problems what ever the mileage , not so on lesser makes . that's probably down to the quality of the rubber piston seals and dust seals

Fair enough it was just something I'd read on a different thread somewhere along the way. It made sense because I know my brake pressure sensor for example was ATE before I replaced it. Assuming that was the original one which is probably was judging by the low mileage

Some good advice and interesting info there, thanks very much chaps.

Going by what I've read, I will be contacting my local Volvo dealer today and see about getting some official Volvo discs and pads.

Let them know that it’s for an older car and ask for a discount.

Don’t forget Eastbourne Volvo offer discounts freely and post for low costs too.
