Default XC70 carphone deceased. Removal??

Hi all, after ten reliable years the carphone in my XC has given up the ghost. All I'm getting is Please Wait in the display. I've tried all the recommended fixes on here but it's not responding. I don't want to leave it in the dash as an ornament, is it easy to remove and can I replace it with something? I've seen reference to a cupholder, is this something that was an alternative fit that maybe I could source from a breaker??

What year is your xc?

If you have an early P2 like mine, where the stereo is a separate unit from the rest, it's a simple job to swap to a cupholder. Just follow a head unit replacement guide, it's attached to the same frame as the head unit, and you should see the clips to get it out.

Finding the part may be a problem, many folk make the upgrade. Here's an example on ebay, although you might want to find one closer.

If you have a later one I'm not sure, but I believe it's a similar story, with different parts.

Mine's an '07, last model before the change. It looks similar to your pic, but slightly different. Thanks for the advice. Cheers!

A poke on google makes it look like it's still possible with the later ones, just more to dismantle, and a different part. Good luck!

Hello,
Does your carphone have the tray for the phone card still in it.
Mine is also the built in model & the tray has split. Volvo locally require 24£ + vat.
I will gladly buy it from you if it still operates.
I am rather loathe to pay Volvo for a small tray.
Regards
C
