If you have no joy, Haynes suggests two large flat blade screwdrivers crossed against each other.

I have one of these that I've modified by trimming down the legs to fit between the teeth of the locking ring https://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-4384...2CB9WCF7SAJWJJ
Possibly stocked by Machine Mart, Halfords or similar and available local to you?

Hi, I've just done mine this very day! I used a piece of scrap 100mm soil pipe, and cut slots in the end. 2 holes in the top and a long bolt through them to turn the pipe.

Cheers MrDave and all the others, he fashioned together a tool and got it off in the end! I now have a new fuel pump, fingers crossed it cures the cutting out issue...!
