Seriously these are nice wheels but they need a refurb. If you budget £50 a wheel for this it takes the value of the wheels down. I would agree with £200 to £250. At the end of the day its a buyers market so take what you can for them.

Best of luck

Scott

Precisely. Refurb costs kind of keep these wheels 'artificially' low, mine needed one hence the price. Mint galaxies/polaris actually go for £4-500 on a good day. You can get a set of brand new Eiker's for a bag of sand!

Firstly they don't need a refurb, they are very presentable as they are and I haven't even cleaned them. If you wanted to refurb them then that is fine, but as ALLOA wants to buy them he is going to want to pay as little as possible, which is fair enough from his point of view.

Also it isn't really a case of taking what I can for them, I have the wheels, no real need to sell them so that makes it a sellers market does it not? If there was only 1 person after them and there were plenty available then it becomes a buyers market......

As a matter of fact I could refurb them myself, but they really don't warrant a full refurb.

The last set of Polaris I found that sold went for over £800 so I think you may be well behind the times

I'm with Baggy on £400 to £500 mint. I too have seen them sold in this range. However my idea of 'mint' differs to other people's !!! So whoever buys them, please let us knows how much you paid.

In my experience galaxies go for £200-£350 depending on the state they're in, tyres etc. I'd say £250 or so is a fair price for a set with kerbing/lifting lacquer/ 3 dodgy chinese tyres.

You may slate the budget tyres, but having used various cheap/expensive tyres on road and track I am quite comfortable with anything in any situation. The main difference I found is the wear rate.... pirellis for example may give slightly better grip but at the expense of lasting half the miles. Would you prefer a puncture in the sidewall of a £100 michelin or a £50 nankang...or better still a part worn linglong at £25? Which ever way you dice it tyre snobbery costs a lot more!

A 3mm chinese tyre will easily out perform any high end brand in the wet with only 1.7mm left...... maybe in some cases the parity is only found at 0.2mm different, so don't run them till they are bald. Well known brands may have prettier tread patterns and get used on formula 1 cars but that doesn't mean the lesser brands are rubbish.

I have a pair of 205 55 16 pirellis I could put on 2 of the wheels and maybe another good year to match the other if it makes someone happy?

BTW, some dunlop tyres come from china.....

The value of these wheels seems to be a hotly debated topic.

My experience is that you will find out what they're worth when you put them up on eBay with a detailed description and plenty of good photos (to make sure the winning bidder completes the purchase).

Best of luck with the sale.

Kind regards
Lucien
