I had a 2001 p2 v70 and although it was good most of the time ,it was always warning me of some malfunction ,some important ,some not .
I would say compared with the p1 s the early phase 2 are not very reliable ,but i hear the later ones got fitted with more reliable electronics .I got fed up and took a step back to a 940 which is SO simple and uncluttered .i wish they still made such cars .
By the way i left home (kicked out),to get a newer model ,appeared on the old Kilroy Show on a programme about mid life crisis ,but that.s another story
Life is so simple and uncluttered now

Talking Update

Just thought I'd update the folks that gave advice (some useful/some not so), on what I purchased at the wk/end.

A nice 05 SE D5, 140k full dealer history etc. Clean and tidy inside, and as you can see look almost new.

Managed to average 64mpg on the 500 mile journey home, pretty unreal me thinks.

So hopefully shouldn't have to many problems for a while, he says touching much wood.

Default '05...a good year

Small coincidence there.
10 days ago I made the run to Cockeysville, MD to look at an '05.
Mine was a non-turbo, FWD with only 82,000 miles.
Remember, they don't let us play with diesels here.
I loved the car, the test drive went well and the rest is, as they say, lunacy.

Turns out I MISUNDERSTOOD (?) the agreement we made for me to put a $4,000 deposit on the car on Saturday morning. I was to bring the balance Monday or Tuesday thus giving them time to fix the ABS condition (light was on).
The dealer said he agreed to me signing a contract and paying in full on Saturday morning.

Gee, how do you think my brain fabricated all the other circumstances and scheduling? I must be crazy.

Tell you what; I'd be crazy to engage those liars a second time.

Best of luck with your SE D5. Wish me luck replacing my '02. Kira

Must admit my little jolly to get her was Intresting turns out google maps and addresses aren't always accurate, I ended up1/4 mile away from the small garage, with no garage, car, people anything just a housing estate lol. I laugh now but it wasn't funny at the time. Tried ringing the number I had no answer. At this point my hearts sinking, thinking I've travelled500 mile on flights, trains etc plus lost a deposit, and no car arrrrgh.
Then a different number calls me, they changed phones at weekends depending on who's working and the garage was a little walk further along the road. Lol. We have an expression up here "aye total numpty" I am.

Good luck finding your change over, it will come.
