'Plink' sound from gearbox

My '56 XC70 makes a little 'plink' sound every time she changes down a gear. Not really noticeable unless I have the window open, but it's still a little annoying/worrying.
Local dealer that I bought it from said it's nothing to worry about, but would involve a total stripdown of the gearbox and that's would involve many many £s.

Anyone got any idea what the noise is and whether I should insist on getting it sorted via my third party warranty which runs out in July?

I'll bump this up.
Plinking or clicking I associate with the release bearing and pressure plate fingers having a go at each other. It would however be present changing up as well as down and would be heard at the gearbox even with the motor not running and a slight notchiness in the pedal.
But then you have an auto ?

Possibly the lower torque mount - the small bush tends to wear to the point of almost non-existence.
