Radio reception on new model XC60
I have a new XC60 arriving in the next few weeks, reading the specs for the car it appears that there is only DAB radio reception capability.
So far my experience of DAB has encouraged me to stick with FM for BBC Radio 4 with older cars that have DAB and FM capability. How good is it on the latest vehicles.

Yep, if you like a bit of hiss with The Archers, you can have it.

DAB pretty good so far - Mostly in London, but also M1/A1 to Durham/Newcastle and across the Pennines to Carlisle.
My old Pure DAB (in my V50) was not good up and down the country, so it's definitely an improvement.

One handy setting is DAB to FM Handover. If reception of a DAB radio channel is lost, an alternative FM frequency is searched for automatically.

I live in an area where the care switches between DAB transmitters frequently. When it happens I get a second or two of music/speech repeated as it buffers the transmission.
It shows that DAB isn't quite real-time, and the delay can be variable. Being lazy I haven't switched to FM.

Yes, one of the socalled "advantages" of DAB (and other digital broadcasting systems) is that there is a time lag.
Unfortunately it's not the only one...

Different DAB receivers process the signal at different (startup) rates, so 3 different DAB radios could all be slightly different.
Amazon Echo/Google/Streamed radio is also delayed (about 7-10 seconds) so in our house there's a echo if different DABs are on. In addition, I can get from the Bathroom DAB to the bedroom Alexa and not miss any of the programme due to the delay ;-)
