Is it an S or an SE, manual or auto. Has a big impact on the used prices.
Personally I wouldn't pay that much for any car which was nudging 200k miles and before even considering it I'd want to have a very close look at the history. Just a full service history is *not enough* at that milage - you want to see evidence of when the brakes and suspension were last changed as it just has to have had at least one set of bushes and dampers by now. If it's not recent that's a nice bill waiting for you. You want to see plenty of evidence of parts being replaced not just servicing - must have had or nearly need a clutch by now for example. Could make a decent buy at the right price though, it's worth a look if nothing else. Cheers, John |

Don't be put off by high miles it's a Volvo. An 01 is presumably a phase 2 car?
Re the price, you might like to know that my V70, 1997, 2.5 CD auto, with 183,000 miles, in absolutely beautiful condition, with full detailed service records, leather, alloys, ECC, etc etc etc, and an LPG conversion, was valued earlier this year when I went to ask about trading it at the Volvo dealer who supplied the car. I was interested in an S80, and had even hinted at new / nearly new. The valuation for mine? £250. On that basis £2500 could seem a tad pricey - even for a younger car? LPG will save you around 6 to 7pence per mile. Cheers Jack PS - have to disagree a bit with some of the points made above: mine still has the original engine, auto gearbox (and ATF), exhaust, suspension bushes and dampers - I defy anyone to find any fault with any of these components! is it a factory bi-fuel or a 3rd party conversion?

Mine is a conversion , done by Autogas 2000 in Thirsk, N Yorks five years and 135,000 miles ago. Still runs absolutely fine. The conversion itself is very neat, the tank is in under the rear floor, the switch is tiny and matches into the dash nice and tidy, the pipework under the bonnet is very professionally done. The only obvious visible sign is the gas filler cap, which is located next to the petrol flap. With hindsight I should have had it painted to match the car, but it's not really a big deal.
The conversion itself adds no value to the car, but I don' t believe it devalues the car at all. Cheers Jack |
