Red Key - Restricted remote control key

A Red Key enables the car owner to set limits for certain car properties. The restrictions are intended to promote safe driving of the car, e.g. when it is loaned out.

Cheaper than a standard key if you ever loose or damage one

I guess the key has to be programmed by the dealer for which there'll be an additional charge?

On my Merc programming the key cost as much as the key itself.
