Did the dealer do a pressure test?

Yes - there were messages saying the pressure was low and they replaced the inlet manifold, retested and now it's OK.
I'm not fully up to speed on these issues, I assumed the EGR problem and the injectors/manifold problem are 2 different issues.

How is the current manifold problem linked to the injectors? Surely the cooler/valve/intake manifold/inlet valve problems are all due to soot build up from EGR?

Pop your reg. no. in and all will be revealed!
But still no revised parts available. I fear that if you rush to the dealer and they do find a problem, then they'll simply replace the affected parts with 'unimproved' parts currently held in stock that will surely suffer the same fate? Then - with you car 'fixed' - you'll also miss out on receiving the improved parts when they do become available!

I'll wait for the promised second notification.

Totally agree. Perhaps as problem is now officially acknowledged a fix may not be far off.

Mines in for a service on Thursday.

They never mentioned the recall (and I forgot to ask!) so I don't know if they're going to do anything about it.

I think mine was one of the early EGR and cooler failures so I'm with you Zebster and would rather wait for a 'proper' fix.

Mine went in because the EML light was on. I was told that if the inlet manifold was blocked then it had to be replace, however I would also get a second letter when the fix was available.

That's good news then.

Next Sat we are hauling up to Cumbria for an event and then back down to Stratford on Avon for the Triumph Speed Six Show. Two days back in Somerset and then a haul across to the Goodwood Revival Show. That's going to be a good clear out for the system on the XC60! My nose will be on alert the entire trip!!!

I'm getting confused. How many recalls have there been, and are any of the issues related to the EGR problem.

I have just done a search and found that Volvo has found a fault with the plastic intake manifold used on its 2.0-litre diesel engine, which poses a potential fire risk. in very rare cases the plastic engine intake manifold may melt and deform on certain models,” with the possibility of causing a “localised engine bay fire.

Also In January, Volvo also announced that it is recalling 219,000 cars globally due to a potential fuel leak, with 30,777 UK cars affected. In affected cars, a faulty fuel line could develop cracks, allowing fuel to leak into the engine bay.

Finally there is the EGR valve issue where as I understand it the cooler clogs up which causes the EGR valve to stick.

Mine went in on Tuesday and the inlet manifold was replaced so I assume my was suffering from the first issue. As I understand it there have been attempts to fix the EGR valve issue, but as yet there is no proper fix for this.

Sorry to be thick, I've just started looking into this since receiving the recall notice and I am in no way a mechanic.
