Default Suspension Refresh

I have another thread to generate how many miles these things can handle and whether to keep car for another 4 years.

Car is V70 d5 205ps auto 2009 year. If decide to keep considering looking at the suspension.

One of things that annoys me is that the car does not handle that nicely.

Wondering on people opinions on replacing on all four shocks? And maybe looking at some better / lowering springs to improve the handling. A complete kit is £600 plus the fitting? Eibach Struts and H&R Springs.

Anyone done this. Sensible idea. Or silly on a car of this type? Last time I did anything on suspension was a 1994 4th Gen Honda Prelude!

I would look at the Bilstien range of shocks but apart from that it's a large estate not a sports car.
You could make it handle like a race car but it would be expencive and uncomfortable on the road, plus too many mods and the insurance companies get interested.

I have never found the handling of my xc70 to be untoward, spirited driving on A and B roads has never given me any moments and that sits on Fo Mo Co components. When they need renewal I shall look at Bilstien but the springs will remain standard.

Many police forces have used them as patrol cars so look at the police specs and see if any difference to standard.

Having biult rally cars as a hobby in the past, it's all a compromise, you decide what you want and what you will sacrifice to achieve it. I have known wonderful rally cars that I would not want as a road car.

Your car your bucks, but you did ask.

Paul.
