+ 202% year on year, very impressive.

Of course, we could blame the snow and the stranded rear wheel drive cars, but for the XC90 to become the _Market_leading_ model, shows what a great car and amazing value proposition it is. Can't wait to get it

Must say I am not suprised at this data. the XCs seem ubiquitous at the moment! I am on my 2nd XC90 and I still consider it the best packaged 4X4 by a considerable distance. I have a mate who owns and Audi Q7. He tells me he his Q7 eats tyres like they are going out of fashion, and when he drove my new R design XC90, he just kept saying... It's so comfortable....

The XC90 is far from perfect, but it is an ICON.

I wonder if the XC90 is becoming the new Volvo 240 estate in terms of being the ubiquitous machine that just does exactly what is says on the tin without being flash? To actually carry on in unchanged format for already 7 years and for at least another two years says something about them having gotten it just right from the start.

Volvo's other SUV, the XC60, has also enjoyed a boost in sales by 115% in February compared to the same month in 2009.
115% sounds very good, but how many cars is it, I still don't see that many on the roads. Not complaining though, I love mine

Which is why I love Volvos. Completely Unpretentious. Jeremy Clarkson's wife drives an XC90 and Clarkson described the car as like a loyal Labrador. He also said that the designers of Volvos are people who have children while the designers of Audis are people who have read about children in books.

There is no doubt that the XC90 is a very good car, and indeed I have just bought an Exec, but the real reason for the massive increase in sales is price. The XC90 was due to be replaced by now, but for whatever reason, it has been delayed and it therefore would appear that Volvo have recouped their R&D money and are just trying to get as much back in the pot as they can. The car still sells very well in the states and that obviously helps, but for a UK Exec the price was reduced fom £47,000 to £42,000 and then I got a further £10,500 discount making it just under £20,000 cheaper than the landrover Discovery that I was comparing it with. Thats why there are selling so many.

I think NPW has nailed it.

Most volvo dealers if they are honest have said the same.
Volvo have recouped their R&D money and since the last couple of years all XC90's produced are pure profit.

This is why they can compete against newer and more sophisticated rivals.

The XC90 is a solid car and most of its niggles have been ironed out.
Added to the 7 seats and a pricetag that is 30% cheaper than most of its rivals, its a no-brainer to most purchasers.
Also Volvo has a relative upmarket rep so even the snobs are satisfied.
