Premium Amplifier Issues?
Apologies for what seems like a common theme having read through alot of previous posts...
I noticed over the weekend that the stereo didn't sound wonderful on my 2007 V8 Sport (FM radio and AUX so multiple sources) and had a look through the settings. It turns out I barely have any sound from all the rear speakers AND the front passenger side. The drivers speakers and the centre speaker are fine. There is some sound from the rest so it's not a broken connection or power issue etc but its like someone has muted them? I've read through posts here for clues, have removed the amp from under the drivers seat - no water ingress or obvious connection issues. It's not a fader/balance issue. Checked that. It's not a Dolby Surround issue - checked it with that off and with the 3 channel option. Same symptoms. With that many speakers not performing properly it surely points to a central problem like the amp doesn't it? The Part No. is 31215526 and it's definitely the premium amp given the Dolby etc right? Has anyone else had the same symptoms or offer me any other ideas? I don't want to pursue a new amp unless I have to and I gather it would need coding to the car anyway? The stereo is usable, it's just bloody annoying!! |

Just thinking - would anyone near Essex have a spare Amp I could swop out and try? Don't really want to go to the expense of a new one if it isn't the problem.

Just putting it out there !! - could it be related to the reverse mute function ? Has it just started to happen - or have you only just noticed it ?
When you select reverse - does it alter it differently. Have you got the integrated phone kit ? just trying to think of some way to pinpoint it more accurately |

I have only recently bought the car so unknown how long symptoms have been there. I don't have the phone kit and there's no evidence of any bluetooth receiver being fitted to the loom near the amp.
I will certainly try in reverse, thanks for the suggestion - the rear parking sensors are working and audible. Having seen other posts I'm wondering whether its ICM related rather than amp but my symptoms are purely speaker related as everything else works? |

If you have a multimeter you can check the output of each channel. This will tell you if any channels are dead. Reduced output could be caused by lack of voltage going in the amp so I would suggest checking ALL connections to and from the amp with a multimeter.
You should see around 12v on the live and switched live, speaker output channels will need to be tested at (preferably with a constant tone) loud volume. The output channels may vary slightly but I suspect you will see quite a difference if the amp is not functioning correctly. |

All speakers not working apart from Centre Dash Speaker
Also have this similar problem!
Started with the front passenger door speakers not working, then one day all speakers apart from the centre dash speaker stopped working. Sound only comes from the centre dash speaker now. Have the Premium Sound System - Dynaudio. On an 06 reg XC90 SE Lux. Doesn't have a phone pack. Searched all over the net, but can't find the answer. I have looked to see if there's a bluetooth box connected near the amp - cannot see one. Took the amp out and had someone look over it - said it looked fine, although they couldn't test/diagnose it in the car at that time. Have checked pretty much all the same as you Cellieb. Still no answer. Anyone out there know what might be up? |

I havent looked at the amp under my drivers seat so I dont know if what I am about to say is even relevant but just suggesting.
Are the connections from the amp to the speakers hard wired or plug in connectors? If connectors check to see if there is any corrosion(green verdigris) on the pins or in the sockets themselves. Just a shot in the dark if you've covered everything else as I know in the old days that was a major cause of speakers not working due to bad connections from corroded copper wires.

Dynaudio stereo system - no amp output to speakers
I've just bought a 2006 XC90 and seem to have the same problem - amplified output to central speaker only. Very low signal coming out to the rest of the speakers in door/ door pillar etc. Given low signal coming out, suggests all wiring is intact but somehow the amplifier output is failing. Would it be an internal fuse within the amplifier?
Seems to be the same problem as others so would be really grateful for any suggestions! |
