Default Complaining to Volvo - any point?

I bought a new XC40 which I got a few months ago. For the last two months I've been trying to get a suspension issue resolved which has required SIX visits to the dealership over as many weeks.

I know some issues are difficult to work out but I'm not pleased. The dealership have been fab, I'm just annoyed it's been such a pain to deal with and has made me fed up with what is to me an expensive car.

Is there any point complaining to Volvo? I'm not sure what they usually do.

I was always told to state exactly what it is you want them to do about your complaint but I can't think of anything reasonable and don't want to ask for money.

Thanks for any advice you may be able to give!

Hi when my volvo S60 was a year old it broke down something to with ejector 's. the dealer contacted Volvo they bent over backwards to help me. They lent me a car whilst they got the car fixed, they also got the fuel system replaced totally and gave me an extra years warranty to cover the inconvenience caused. I was very impressed.

Your dealer is who the contract is with not Volvo themselves , they help the dealer who helps you , you have to leave it with them and demand a loan car ...what is wrong with the suspension?

I've been given a loan car each time so that's not a problem. It's still not resolved so I don't know exactly, it makes a horrendous grinding noise at motorway speeds, I've been told it's maybe the suspension but is safe to drive.

I guess I'm asking because my complaint isn't necessarily with the dealer, they aren't really at fault for what Volvo manufactured and delivered them. But you're right. Feels weird to complain to a dealer but not about anything they've strictly done themselves!

The best way is to leave the car with them for a few days until they can fix it ,
is it easy to reproduce I wonder , Is it related to suspension going up and down? speed?

I think that's my qualm really, I've left it with them for two days at a time, six times now. It's getting a bit ridiculous.

The problem is it's easy to reproduce on the road but on the lift it's not. So other than stick your head out the window at motorway speed, it's difficult to tell exactly where it's coming from.

ha yes, pretty sure it's the rear but they've replaced nearly every part of the rear at this point so it's proving elusive

While it's possible that the dealership have been in touch with Volvo technical about this issue there is a chance they haven't.I'd e-mail Volvo outlining the issue and what has so far been done, how many times it's been looked at etc.Explain you don't have an issue with the dealerships attempt to resolve it and see what they come back to you with.It could be an issue they're aware of[although I'd have thought that then would be subject of a recall]or they could be totally unaware of any issues as no one has told them.Keep it polite and don't demand things but stress it's spoiling your enjoyment of and confidence in the car. They may just come up with something to resolve this to everyones satisfaction.

Contact Volvo. Their technical people should be able to sort it.
