Default Updating Maps

Have a MY19 V90 - haven't updated maps yet but see a 1250 version is available.

Q. Presuming I have full europe pre-loaded, is it possible just to update UK - I see the UK is avaailable as a separate 2.5Gb download.

Q. The instructions refer to a 64Gb stick - will a 4Gb stick work just for UK

Q. Can I upload just the UK part on top of an existing full Europe install? does anyone know?

The instructions are not so clear as to why individual country downloads are available

Some people have done this successfully but it doesn't work for me.

Yes.

Not sure as I've ended up just doing full Europe.

Q1: Yes

Q2: Can't definitively say (I have a 64Gb stick) but it should be fine.

Q3: Yes you can update just the UK but expect the system to nag you about new map updates because you haven't updated the other country's maps.

Yes, Yes and Yes, but you will periodically get the 'new updates available' message until you update the rest of Europe etc. I just ignore it!

There is now a 1253 update on the download site that it is still showing on the front page as 1250 but when you download it it shows it as 1253. Just go ahead and download it as you will get the most recent map without having to download the 1250 update as well.

My car only came with the UK pre-installed. I ended up downloading the full European maps and it installed faster than the North West Europe update.

The answer has proved to be yes, yes, yes. NW Europe only (2.4Gb) updated using a 4Gb stick no problem. Now have 1253.

Hi All,

Just did the UK (North West Europe) only Maps update.

Downloaded to USB direct - entered my VIN to ensure i had correct download.

File size was approx 2.4 GB and the USB was a basic £11 64 GB plastic cruzer stick (did not even have a cap). Nothing on drive (new); I made sure it was a basic stick with no encryption software etc.

Downloan from laptop approx 5 mins, not sure.

Started up car, waiting a min then plugged in stick.

Approx 30 sec later a message flashed up on centre screen of north west europe installing.

Did not use maps. Took maps off driver display.

No progress bar but top right was a continuous spinning small outer circle indicating update being done.

4 seperate journeys over weekend. After 2hrs of driving (in total) message said installation complete. Turn engine off to complete installation.

All working perfectly, 1253.

So all good.

My next worry is the latest voice control update.

It says to do this in a single journey without taking engine off.
Apparently takes 30 mins .

Has anyone done this? How long did it take and is there any difference?

Just worried about how long it will take

Cheers,

Ken

Does this mean the vehicle can be turned off / locked during the update ?
