Ceratec ceramic grease. I buy it from eurocarparts, comes in a little 'toothpaste' size tube and lasts for ages.

I have always used a light smear of standard High Melting Point grease as you would use for wheel bearings.
Doubtless there will be someone along to tell me I'm wrong but it's worked for me with all the cars I've owned with sliding caliper brakes this last 19 years with no misshap or siezed calipers. Paul. |

This used to be a huge problem on the Mitsubishi Galants that I used to have - seizing pins due to lack of or wrong grease.
Copper slip is very bad - it swells the rubber seals and causes seizing. Ceratec is great on the backs of pads, but again it's not much good in this case - it dries up and gets sticky. The original mitsubishi grease, and what I found to work best in replacement is Fuchs Renolit Red Rubber Grease: https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-999-fuc...lastomers.aspx |

I use copper grease on the metal to metal parts ( back of pad, end of pad where it contacts the caliper etc.) but if there is any rubber involved, as in the sliders (also on any O rings ) I use Servisol silicone grease. Comes in a tube and used to be obtainable from Maplins before they went to the wall.
