I had a V70 D5 which I sold three years ago with 307,000 miles on and a new MOT. Engine ran beautifully, handbrake was the only thing on it that was a bit ropey

It depends on the lump with VW- the old ASV engines were agricultural but would run forever. I had a Mk1 Octavia 1.9tdi 110 which sounded like a tractor but gave me a seamless (barring the snapped clutch pedal) 45,000 miles. Sold with 155k on the clock for £50 more than I paid for it. Friend of mine has the same lump in a very early Mk4 that is now heading out to 400k but then it is looked after to within an inch of its life! Certainly more reliable than the later updated PD/CR engines

Yes after many phone calls and being told that our car was old Volvo agreed to pay 35% and the dealer was made to pay 10%. This still left us with a bill of over £6,400.00 and no car for 3 months whilst it was being repatriated by Volvo Assistance
