Smile 1110 mile commute

Doing this weekly for a few months for work.Suffolk to Aberdeen.
I'm interested to see how the 940 gets on with it.
So far its actually a great trip, after 10 hours driving I felt pretty good. These seats are brilliant! The car was born for trips like this.

I love driving, and my XC70 is a dream for long journeys too. My worst (excluding the wife's Ka) was a Mercedes B class. It was uncomfortable and tortured my lower back, made me stiff and irritable on long runs.

Hope you took your passport, them border guards might stop you! *winks*

I do 400 miles a week just to and from work and I thought that was bad enough lol! Consequently, I spend a lot of time in my Volvo. The front seats are on of the many things about these great long distance cruisers that turn each trip from a chore into a pleasure.

I used to do Cambridge to Aberdeen and back over a weekend quite regularly in my 740, often fully loaded. The seats were a major plus point in making it bearable. Managed about 33 mpg. Long m'way trips are easier on the car than round-town stuff: fully warmed up, just cruising along.

Just be careful on those icy Aberdonian streets!

Are you sure it only took 10 hours? That makes an average speed of 110MPH. The few times I've done 1000 mile + trips has been a full day including drop offs and loading etc

I don't envy you. The seats in m 740 are far too small for me and the headrest digs into my shoulder blades in just the wrong way.

Crikey! How tall are you, if I may ask? I'm 6ft 2, and the headrest is behind my head.

Yes round trip, stopping every couple of hours.

Never really went over 70 slow and steady and not too stressful.

Very bright sunlight caused a few accidents early on. I kept my distance and slowed right down, literally couldn't see a thing, contemplated stopping and letting the sun go down..
Others just sped on regardless. Apologies for language...

2 hours of fog through Lincolnshire late on didn't help. Lorries don't seem to be affected by weather and thunder on as normal.

A smidgen under 6'8". I had to remove the sunroof mechanism and rivet a plate over the hole so that I could sit up straight and drive.
