The sunroof was a major source of ire, but it's not a problem any more... (yes I've cleaned it up since!)

Now just to find a solution to the headrest jamming between my shoulderblades...

I do more than 500 a week in commuting, and totally agree. I wouldn't think twice about spending all day in any one of my Volvos (and have at least once in all 4).

Another rather uneventful journey completed, apart from the M6 closure at around 10pm Thursday evening. Diversion through Penrith on A6.

Youtube blocked the previous video due to the music on the radio..now replaced with some weird music.

https://youtu.be/gNB-0iiDR-E

Averaging 29 mpg.

Just had it cleaned and checked fluids ready for the return trip back to Aberdeen tomorrow.

Booked in for an oil change on 4th Feb. Will stick to 5k mile oil changes (so nearly one a month) using Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 from Opie Oils as they have a good deal on it at the moment.

Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 Pure Plus Fully Synthetic Engine Oil - 5 Litres (Plus a FREE 1 Litre and Pouch) £30.45 delivered.

That sun is seriously low! Can't believe youtube blocked the video because of music on the radio! how petty is that!

The 740 has had the honour of wafting me up to Aberdeen and back via Hartlepool this weekend, the only thing I wasn't counting on was temps of 25 deg c +.. with no air con it was a bit of a long, hot trip. Trying a 2nd hand speedo sender unit as I have tried everything to get the speedo working, with no success. Another oil and filter change due for the 740 next month.

Used to regularly put in 1000 mile weeks in my old 940, took it in its stride no problem, never had any doubt about it's ability!

I did Renfrew-Northampton-Renfrew once in a 245 - it wasn't too bad for comfort but I reckon the best long-distance cruiser for my 6' is an FE Victor 2300 with the non-reclining front seats as the driving position suited me perfectly, as demonstrated by a non-stop run from North London to Renfrew using the A1, A6 to Penrith and the M6, A74 (no M74 in those days) and M8.

I drove to Inverness that week (26th I think) from Swindon, with an overnight stop near Lockerbie. No AC either, it was exactly as comfortable as you imagine. Especially when I snapped a throttle cable outside Aviemore and had to bodge one from the local bike shop.
