1110 mile commute

So the 940 has been running very well, apart from some minor issues recently;

1) Rear bulbs playing up on nearside, changed holder now seems OK.
2) The air con (actually the fan(s)) has a weird habit of pulsing on and off, changed air con control unit in dash for 2nd hand one, the button to switch air con on didn't work so no progress there.
3) Rear exhaust box blowing, new one arrived at Wrights - to be fitted next week.

Had an annual service last week at Wrights Attlebrough, all good apart from No 3 above. Has had an oil + filter change with Shell Helix Ultra every 4-5k.

So I'm wondering if anyone changes coolant hoses and/or radiators on a scheduled basis, say every 8-10 years, last radiator was fitted 8 years ago.

Now at 202k miles, going in for another oil change today, all well apart from blower fan slowly pulsing on and off. Ie stops for a couple of minutes then starts again, weird..

I'm treating the old lady to a new set of coolant hoses and a possibly a new radiator, I cant find a heater valve anywhere (air con model type)..
Will also be getting the new front shocks and springs plus an autobox oil change.
Shes had an easy couple of months covering only 3k miles per month as I've been lazy and flown a few times, now at 207k, all running well, fingers crossed.

Have you seen this different method of fixing your heater valve from Turbobricks. http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=246617
Also the plastic one referenced by Laird Scooby comes in a part metal version which fits some GM cars in Australia. It is made by Gates HV5217.

Thanks for the info. Have been informed that heater valve failure is reasonably predictable, and shouldnt be catastrophic?
Will replace all coolant hoses and radiator shortly, as a routine maintenance task.

If the AC is not switching on and the system is okay otherwise, it could very well be the soldering of the AC on/off relay on the little circuit board inside the control unit. Resoldering will cure that quite easily.
